It’s a new year and I’m cleaning out the bookshelves. I’ve got a ton of manga I’m selling off/giving away and a few American comics as well. Scares me a little how many volumes I own.
I remember when I first started collecting manga. The first series I remember picking up was Kodocha. From there I picked up Marmalade Boy, Getbackers and too many others. This was probably around when Tokyopop started making stuff readily available.
The last few years I’ve been decreasing my manga intake and returning to American comics, my favorite from back in the day. I love the superhero stuff. Marvel is putting out some really good stuff with Daredevil, Captain America and Iron Man right now. DC is also doing quite well with Batman. Of course, I’m also into less mainstream stuff like DC’s Vertigo titles. Still, on the manga side, I’m trying to keep up with Urusawa’s Pluto and Yotsuba.
Anyone have any favorite series right now? From anywhere in the world?
