Still a little jetlagged, but I’ve been back from vacation for about six days now. I flew on JAL. My very favorite thing about flying JAL is that they serve Yuzu, a citrus non-carbonated soft drink. Tasty!

JAL Skytime Yuzu, the best non-carbonated drink served on an airline EVER!
Although I flew out on Thanksgiving Day and missed dinner with my family, the airline food wasn’t bad. They didn’t serve turkey or mashed potatoes, but they did serve this!

Matcha Green Tea-flavored Madelines!
But enough of the airline food! After arriving in Hong Kong after a long flight, I woke up in the morning and ate a Hong Kong-style western breakfast of macaroni soup, eggs, toast and Hong Kong-style milk tea. The exchange rate from USD to HKD is pretty good and the food is pretty inexpensive, most of the meals I had only cost $2 USD, crazy right?

Afterwards, I jumped on the train and headed over to the Time Square area (yup, Hong Kong has a Time Square, too) and worked my way towards the bay in time to see the firing of the Noonday Gun – literally a gun that is fired everyday to mark 12 Noon.

Ready, aim, fire! Smoke after the firing of the Noonday Gun

Little boats and yachts all over the place
After that, I just wandered around. Hong Kong is a very bustling city with tall buildings encroaching on narrow streets. Even in late November it was very hot and humid. I don’t do so well in humidity.

Street food is abundant in Hong Kong, but the restaurants aren’t too shabby. A special surprise at a place I ate at, a cute plate of coconut marshmallow bunnies.

More photos later!

I LOVE Sky Time! I couldn’t get enough of it last time I flew JAL.
Watch out for small hand towels disguised as coconut bunnies! Very different.
